Norton 360 Deluxe is an all-in-one security suite that bundles antivirus, firewall, VPN, password manager, cloud backup and browser plug-ins. Because the installer drops kernel-level drivers, multiple Windows services, scheduled update tasks, and browser integrations, a normal “Uninstall” rarely removes every driver or registry key. Left-over components can keep running, block other security tools, or even reinstall the product on reboot—hence the reputation for being hard to eradicate.
Below is the full, up-to-date process for Windows 10/11 (last verified 2025-05-31).
- Save your data
• Open Norton 360 → My Norton → Backup → run a final backup if you still need the files.
• Sign out of the vault (Password Manager) so your data are not tied to the device. - Run the official removal tool (quickest)
• Download Norton 360 Remover (v24+) fromhttps://www.norton.com/nortonremover.
– File:norton_360_remover.exe(≈ 36 MB).
• Right-click the file → Run as administrator.
• Choose Remove & Reinstall, then click Remove only.
• When it finishes, click Restart Now . (Older v22 users: use NRnR.exe fromhttps://norton.com/nrnrinstead .) - Verify and finish in Windows
After reboot, check:
• Settings → Apps → Installed apps — the Norton entry should be gone.
• Task Manager → Services tab — no Norton service should be running.
• File Explorer — delete any folders left under
– C:\Program Files\Norton
– C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton
– %PROGRAMDATA%\Norton
– %LOCALAPPDATA%\Norton
– %APPDATA%\Norton 360 - Optional registry sweep (advanced)
• Press Windows + R → regedit → back up the registry.
• Delete keys under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Norton
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Norton
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Norton* - Final reboot
Restart once more; Windows will load without any Norton driver or service.
If you prefer a one-click solution, run PerfectUninstaller afterward—it will automatically detect and erase every remaining Norton driver, folder, and registry key.
