LibreOffice is a free, open-source office suite that bundles Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Base, and Math into one installer. The problem is that its components are spread across multiple directories, services, and registry entries; a standard uninstall often leaves behind configuration folders, shell extensions, and cached Java runtimes that can clash with later reinstalls or simply take up disk space.
Below is a straightforward way to wipe it out completely on a Windows 10 / 11 machine.
- Close every LibreOffice window
Look at the taskbar and system tray—shut any open files, quick-starts, or update dialogs. - Uninstall via Settings (fastest)
• Press Windows + I → Apps → Installed apps.
• Type “LibreOffice,” click the three-dot menu next to it → Uninstall → confirm.
• Let the wizard finish and reboot when it asks. - If Settings fails—use the built-in uninstaller
• Open File Explorer and browse to
C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\program\ or
C:\Program Files (x86)\LibreOffice\program\
• Double-click uninstall.exe (or uninst000.exe) and follow the prompts. - Hunt for leftovers (optional but recommended)
• Delete these folders if they still exist:
– C:\Program Files\LibreOffice
– C:\Program Files (x86)\LibreOffice
– %APPDATA%\LibreOffice
– %LOCALAPPDATA%\LibreOffice
• In Registry Editor (regedit), remove the keys under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\LibreOffice
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LibreOffice
(Export a backup first.) - Reboot
A restart finishes the cleanup and frees any locked DLLs.
If you’d rather not chase folders and registry keys manually, let PerfectUninstaller do it for you—it scans every trace LibreOffice hides and deletes them in one click.
